    Hi Manas

Thanks for the kind words. Yes you can add the custom links to the dashboard menu in Answers. Once you add the links in the XML file, they would appear in the Answers Dashboard as well.

    Thanks

    Hi Sunil,

Your blog has many times led me to finding solutions to the challenges I face during my development work.

I know that you have a good knowledge of the native javascript files of OBIEE.
The current project that I am working with, requires navigation between reports by passing selected rows from one dashboard page to the other. The navigation back and forth dashboard pages with the selected values works perfectly fine due to additional scripting done to the common.js files.

However, I am faced with a challenge. One of the pages have a report with writeback capbaility and once the report has refreshed from the writeback, navigating back to the source report does no longer display the user’s initial selection of records. This is because, during a page refresh, the initially stored values are reset in the common.js files.

My thought process is the following, the report definitly stores the current displayed records in some location and this is why it is able to refresh the same records. If I can get hold of the javascript file that holds these values or is responsible for the refresh then I should be able to work a solution for myself.

I would be very grateful if you could provide me a hint to which js files I should be checking for this.

    Warm Regards,
    Denu

    Hi Sunil,

I work on building reports on OBI EE.

I have a scenario where in I have a couple of columns on the dashboard prompt.
User can select a value in column1 with or without selecting a value in column2 and can run the report.
But when user wants to select a value in column2, he must select a value in column1.

If the user accidentally skips picking up value in column1 , Is there a way in OBIEE to perform any of the below activities after user clicks GO button on the dashboard prompt.

    1) to notify the user to pick up a value in column1
    2) to default value of column1 to a particular value

Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.

    Thank You,
    Regards,
    Pavan Kumar.

    Hi Sunil,

This is a very good informative Blog. Appreciate your Good Work.
I need your help in one of the requirement.
I wanted to implement the Bread Crumbs.
    Below is my requirement.
    Requirement:
Suppose we have one dashboard and one page is there which has got Analysis named Analysis_1
We have action link on Column_1 in this analysis which navigate to Analysis_2 report.
So when we are on Analysis_2 report page, just on top of the report it should show breadcrumb like below
    Analysis_1 >> Analysis_2
Likewise it should go on till we can drill down ….
    Analysis_1 >> Analysis 2 >> Analysis_3 >> Anyalysis_4 ……..
All these should have links so that while we are on Anylysis_3 or Anaylysis_4 and we want to go to Analysis_2 back then user just needs to click on the link given in above breadcrumb and it should open Analysis_2 report …..that’s it.

    Kindly Suggest.
